Tuesday, Sep 01, 2009 Relocated away from Slicehost to Linode
After more than a year relationship with Slicehost. I decided to move all Headnix web services and sites to Linode.
I am not too sure about your experience with Slicehost. I think, support-wise and stability-wise, they are great. However, it’s damn slow to load web pages in Slicehost here from the other end of the Pacific Ocean (Hong Kong).
Linode offers service similar to Slicehost. Both provide great support service. Linode provides a rather raw interface but I have no complain with them other than that.
The only thing, to me, that set them apart is the connection speed. I use the same Ubuntu distribution and software setup (Lighttpd, MySQL, PHP, etc) in both slices I rented. Slicehost is just slower, noticeably slower. Maybe it’s that 64-bit OS eats more RAM and my slice has only 256 MB. To me, I am just hosting basic PHP web sites which has no point to scarify memory consumption over memory capacity.
If you do wanna try Linode or Slicehost, please go ahead to do so. They are both great service. But if you pick my choice, you can use this referral link which will award me 1 month free hosting (if you keep on using Linode for more than 90 days).
Tips for those who are new to MySQL stored procedure programming SEO is actually very simple
